Yully, better known to her family and friends as Yulunda, Born on November 4th, 1994. She has always had a soft spot for music in her heart. Whether it was because of her Dad’s love for great Australian bands like INXS, or her Mum who played inspirational music by Whitney Houston, Micheal Jackson and Meatloaf she still doesn’t know. “I remember having one of those plastic microphones that echoed and singing into until i drove my parents crazy, singing just simply made me happy.” Yully said.

It wasn’t until she was about 12 that she discovered rap music, which she grew to love and understand in ways her peers couldn’t. Eminem was and still is, to this day one of her biggest inspirations. “i used to have his songs on repeat until i picked up all the words, and then rap listening to his style, technique, delivery and emotion.” says Yully.

She struggled to share her ability to sing or song write with anyone around her until she was 16 and grew the confidence to finally put a cover up on Youtube. The reactions were mixed, but her friends and family were supportive, which is all she could’ve asked for.

In 2010, aged 16, Yully released her first original song called “Relationships”. This single landed her a producer in Florida, USA, called Jason Johnson better known as “Jason X”, who with his hip-hop/rap beats, helped to mold what would become – The X/Y genre.

In 2012 Yully worked with Telethon (Australian Childrens Hospital) and raised over 600 dollars for the charity and has since said any royalties made from the song would be donated to the foundation.

2015 is said to be a big year for this 19 year old, singer, songwriter and rapper. “I feel like I’ve finally found my ground, somewhere between acoustic and hip-hop, singing and rapping.” says Yully.

“I just want to make music that makes a difference” – Yully.
